Petition Statement
We, the undersigned, call on the California Department of Transportation, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors to immediately halt all development permits for the I-5 corridor expansion and the Mojave Solar Farm projects pending a full, independent Environmental Impact Review under the California Environmental Quality Act. Hiker Town and the surrounding wilderness corridor are irreplaceable. The proposed projects threaten critical habitat for endangered species, destroy active wildlife migration corridors, compromise the regional groundwater supply, and permanently close 14 public hiking trails used by tens of thousands of Californians each year. We demand transparent, science-based decision-making that prioritises the long-term health of our natural environment over short-term infrastructure convenience.
